my stepdad has a young coworker whose wife is pregnant with their first child. they've moved to america rather recently, and don't have any family nearby, and so my stepdad has been gathering friends to help them feel supported in the great undertaking of raising a child.
when i heard of his efforts, i decided sending a few hand made stuffed animals would be a nice gesture, and so i started with this giraffe. many thanks to my friend ashlee, who donated lots of denim after converting a few pairs of her jeans into shorts!
about halfway through, as i was sewing up the legs, i put my fingers inside to hold things in place - and realized that this giraffe would make a great puppet.
i've never made a puppet before, but this one turned out alright. what do you think?
