one small but exciting step toward local self sufficiency - woven willow garden fencing. we've done a few willow harvests this year, piling pickup beds high and stripping branches from everything once we get it home. the willow around here grows like crazy along the riversides and creeksides and replenishes itself without fuss. the limbs that we strip off are dried and used as feed for the goats, and the main trunks are used as weaving material for garden fencing.
now that the goats and sheep are in paddocks, the willow fences only need to discourage chickens and ducks. the kittens take care of wild rabbits on their own. so here's my first rather goofy looking (and not finished!) attempt at willow garden fencing.
