i'm joining the 'independence days challenge' started by sharon astyk. it's in its third year, though this will be my first. i'm a bit late, but here's my report for the first week (march 1-7):
1. Plant something - dreamed of seeding lettuce by the window, stopped by westside market looking for seedling flats and seed starting mix, talked to a friend and heard of a good place to find those supplies
2. Harvest something - nope
3. Preserve something - nux froze bananas that we purchased for future smoothies
4. Waste Not - using up all the last bits of those salads. wish i had a composter
5. Want Not - looked up information on seed starting indoors without fancy equipment
6. Build Community Food Systems - posted flyer in natural foods store to see if anyone will let me share their yard for gardening
7. Eat the Food - ate fresh local hothouse tomatoes and organic lettuce in salads. hooray!
