Grapes and Muscadines

Back in early September Jon saved the Acorn crop of grapes. The leaves were getting torn up by a mystery bug (probably Japanese beetles) and we weren't sure the grapes would make it. Jon came in with this big bowl of fruit - jackpot! Looks like they made it after all.

The grapes in the picture are Concord grapes. Later in the fall I visited Alexis at Woodfolk House and scored FOUR muscadine starts - muscadines are native grapes that tend to be extra hardy around here. I put 'em in the ground with Nux and we strung up some wire along a few strong stakes so they can climb when they start growin in the spring.
